BSF

"The heartbeat of BSF is the study of the Bible. And as your understanding of the Bible increases, you will find your relationship with God deepening."

Wayne and I have recently started attending the local mens and womens Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) classes on Monday evenings. BSF is an inter-denominational Bible study program that helps people in over 30 different countries gain a practical understanding of God and the Bible.

Inica, my wonderful friend in Aussie, has attended for five years and has often shared about how much she has learnt and grown through the daily questions for individual Bible study, weekly discussion groups, challenging lectures and study notes.

We've jumped in half way through a study of the book of Romans, one of BSF's seven yearlong studies. The other studies include Matthew, the Life of Moses, John, the History of Israel and the Minor Prophets, Acts of the Apostles, and Genesis.

We're already being challenged. It's such wonderful timing for me to start going along having just completed my studies at BCNZ, and Wayne is also very thankful for the encouragement to be in the Word daily seeking God.

Hi, Carly!

Long time no post, sorry! I don't know if I've mentioned this before (getting old...) but I just finished my first ever year with BSF. Yes, it's a ton of homework (I usually ended up doing all of it over one or two nights so it would seem more cohesive), but I got a lot out of it. We did Romans, which God knew was perfect for me. So many questions I had were answered during the year, and many more came to mind, as well!
In the Vancouver BSF group, I was suprised and overjoyed to see that 95% of the 250 women participating were of Asian descent!
At the year end sharing time, I was able to talk of how BSF had helped me in my transition time after leaving Japan. I had been very afraid of not finding God in suburbia, but thanks to the witness of these beautiful women, I saw how God was at work here, even in the mundane!
What I enjoyed were the seminars they had every now and then, especially the one on Witnessing. I thought I knew all there was to know about it, but they offered excellent practical advice. Hint: the Gospel's the main thing. I realize now what had been missing from my talk with non-believing friends.
I hope you and Wayne have a good time with it. I can tell you now you won't agree with everything in the notes, but it's mostly good stuff.
What are you studying next? You're both in separate groups, right? Or do they have one for couples?

Hi Ang, gorgeous to hear from you!

Wow, I'm so stoked to know you're involved with BSF as well!!! We're on the NZ/Aussie school calender so Wayne and I are only half way through the book of Romans and loving it! Tonight we're studying Romans 11. There are no mixed groups down under either, so we go our separate ways... but we're really enjoying discussing what we're learning as we both get back into the discipline of aiming for daily Bible reading!

Are you starting Matthew soon? xx

Hi, again,

Yep, I just got a call from my new group leader today, coincidentally. The first session begins next week! I attend the morning sessions because I work in the afternoons/eves. They'll probably be surprised to see me back as they've been praying that I'll find a full-time job, for the past year! We'll see what happens!

I'm not sure what we're studying next. Maybe Matthew?
