Tonight Wayne and I went to a Taizé Service at St Aidan's. The theme was peace and strength. We gathered close to the altar of the church with Rublev's icon on display, candles encircling us, and incense burning. It was a contemplative evening of prayer with unique Taizé style worship throughout the evening. Taizé music emphasizes simple phrases, often from Psalms or other pieces of Scripture, repeated and sometimes also sung. There was one phrase which particularly moved me tonight:
"Stay with me, Remain with Me, Watch and Pray, Watch and Pray."
It reminded me of Jesus' words to His disciples in the Garden of Gethsemene before He was arrested and taken to Pilate and Herod. I was encouraged tonight through these words that Jesus longs for me to be close by His side so much more than I long to be by His. I, like you, am precious to Him xx
