While in the Hokianga earlier this week I had the privilege of joining a twilight tour in the Waipoua Forest with Footprints Waipoua. We visited the oldest kauri tree in the world - Te Matua Ngahere thought to be 4,000 years old! I was totally moved at the thought that in comparision with the ancient pyramids which have stood for a similar length of time, this tree has been alive throughout four milleniums!!!
