On the last day of our honeymoon we visited Tiritiri Matangi Island - a bird sanctuary about an hour from downtown Auckland. It was fantastic! Minako, a friend and volunteer DOC guide, showed us around the island pointing out all sorts of native birds which we normally have no opportunity to see... takahe (above), saddleback, tui, stitchbird, kokako.
